is software ppl under trouble due to economic crisis??

Rumours are there that,cos of this massively struck economic hit most of the software cos come under RED alert where in they gonna sack their employees..
Even though the exact headcount is not known, still the number gonna be very hogh if ppl from all cos are counted together.
Does this rumour become reality or just another false one??

I can tell you that Dell has closed two large call centres in Canada since the beginning of the year. Approximately 3000 people have lost their jobs from these closures.
