I am really not good in OS. One day my bos told me to format one computer of his friend then reinstall the Windows XP which has been broken and corrupted virus. When I start to format C: drive which content the OS then the error message appear. "The formatting is blocked by adminstrator". Wah!!! I don't know what to do so I just install the other Windows in the same drive. Do you have any idea to help me?

Hello friend. The solution should be easy. Just bootstrap from the OS CD, and install it from scratch. You will beable to format the disk (you will be promped to chose the partition where you wanna install the OS) from the install procedure. Wish it can help you. Happy myLotting

Thanks... maybe I got a wrong CD installer... I must remove the existing OS so I can install the new one, right? But I am quite afraid to do that so I just repair the OS he3x coz this is my first time formatting....

The solution given by Pierone is the simplest and easiest especially since your boss asked for the hard disk to be formatted. The actual options depend on several factors. Did you use the original Windows to format the hard disk? That could be reason why your attempt was blocked. The virus could also have taken administrator status. I happened to me once. Presumably the new Windows was installed on another folder, eg windows001. One way to install XP over itself is by renaming Desktop into some other name, rg topdesk or atasmeja. I am not going to suggest other options since it would involve other things like file system (FAT32 or NT).

You need to boot to the install CD, if the system has a restore partition you start that up and it will restore your system to factory spec's
