I recently had saw a commerical for kmart talking about their layaway program. They are one of the few places that even offer it anymore. Marshalls and TJ Maxx have it too. We are heading up to Kmart tomorrow to start shopping and see how much we have to put down for the stuff we want to get. I really don't like Kmart at all but it is the most economical thing for us to do. We dont have a lot of upfront money but this way we can pay on it and still get what we want. We really only have to buy for Stephanie and then we pick names at Thanksgiving so one more person in the family. I have already started looking online to get an idea of what to get for her. What about you guys, will layaway programs entice you to start shopping earlier this year??

I am shopping early this year, but that's only because I am saving money beforehand so I can get everyone Xmas presents before Xmas gets here. I bought family present a couple of months ago to get that out of the way (I have to ship those because they all live out of state). I would do layaway, but there's no Kmart close to me and Walmart doesn't do it anymore. It's easier for me to just buy things slowly much ahead of Xmas.

I started shopping already, but I've heard about this layaway comeback. I will certainly go and check it out. It's a great way to get your items on hold and pay for them later. It eliminates the need for credit cards and retailers, even though they have to hold the items for a bit, will make a lot of money by enticing more customers and more purchasers. It was always a great idea, I don't know why they stopped doing it. Is Wal-Mart going to have it too?
