Just though I might pick up some new prospecting buddies. I live in Arkansas so there isn't a lot of Gold to be had but I still get the gold. I started recovering gold from scrap electronic parts about a year ago. I have gotten a lot more Gold from that than I ever did from prospecting. However I still enjoy looking for it. I ran a dredge in Arizona one summer and did pretty good. If this is one of your interests let me know. Art

Hello. I live about 10 miles South of Ft Smith Ar. Not a lot of anything around here in the way of rocks and minerals you would want to collect. I have found a few traces of Gold in some of the older sandstone here. Also I get some out of the Arkansas River that I guess rolls all the way down from Colorado. There is a place down in Eastern Alabama that is supposed to have some pretty good gold. If you might want to check it out let me know and I'll get you the directions to get there. I find traces of Gold and Silver both here but it isn't enough to mess with for a profit. I still love the looking even if I don't find much. Thanks very much for your post. Art

Arkie, for quite a while I lived up around West Plains, Missouri(just above the Ark. line) and in some of the rock formations(lot of volcanic rock) I could see traces of gold. Just because you haven't found any in your back yard, I wouldn't quit looking. Ha! I have found gold a lot of places where it had never been found before. Up until recently I was living in Kingman, Arizona and I, too have been to Lynx Creek. Good area for gold. Years ago I knew a fellow who worked for IBM and made a lot of money from extracting gold from old PC boards. Good move on your part. So I understand there are a lot of chemicals involved?

It has been a long time since you posted this but I just noticed it. I missed it some way. I do thank you for your reply. Traces is about all I find down here. I have found more down in the South western part of Arkansas and I have been told you can find a little in North West Arkansas. When it is warm enough for me to work outside I am pretty heavy into the scrap gold recovery. Old computers and phone equipment and things like that. The older stuff has some pretty good Gold in it. I finally figured out my chemicals where I don't have to drive all the way to Tulsa Ok to buy Nitric Acid. I came up with a way to make my own Nitric from Sulfuric Acid and Nitrogen, (Battery Acid and fertilizer). I can buy all I need of both locally for a lot less than the Nitric costs. I sort of go in the back door on it. Instead of dissolving the Gold like most people do I dissolve everything but the gold. The Gold then just drops to the bottom and is still in a metal form. Much easier and simpler to do it that way. The Nitric only won't dissolve the Gold but it will the iron, copper and other junk metals. I also like to collect rocks. I live about 10 miles South of Ft Smith Ar and there isn't much around here but a ways South there is some pretty good rocks. I don't know what half of what I pick up is but it is pretty and I like it. Sorry it took so long to answer you. Take care. Art
