I signed my kids up for basketball last weekend. The registration form said it started in December.
Well my oldest came home from school today saying he has practice tonight. I wasn't so sure I believed him, but then the coach called, and sure enough, there is a practice tonight! Well I really wasn't expecting that. And practice is at 7pm, it lasts until 8pm. That's a bit late in my opinion, especially since I have younger kids who need to bathe and be in bed by 8pm. And the baby usually wants to be in bed no later than 7.
Oh well, guess I should have thought of that before I signed him up.
Don't you just love how they wait until the last minute to tell you about events going on? Does this happen to you?

With me it is normally the discos that I find out about at the last minute. I am sure they do it on purpose because we have to pay for tickets and I always find out about them when I have no money!

The schools do things like that too. My kids will come home from school on a Monday after all our money is gone and say they needed something that day for school.
Usually my money is gone before they get home on Fridays, so I'd need to know on Thursday if they needed money for school, and they never tell us until it's too late for me.

Those last minute notices always put me on edge. I remember the kids bringing home a note the day before a bake sale or when they needed special items for a project. We were always on the run. This left little time for family time. With 4 kids I was always doing something.

yes that would be annoying to have something come up in last minute because you schedule will be ruined. But there's nothing that we could do about it but choose the top priority. What i did is choose whichever is most important in my list of things to do...if the thing that i have to do is more important than the last minute call, i would chose to follow my list and let the caller understand that i can't show up. or the other way around too it depends.

I don't remeber getting forms and then changes at the last minute HOWEVER both of my boys were famous for walking in the door and saying, Practice is tonight and I need new cleats, I lost mine or This is due at 7:00 tomorrow morning so I need this this and that now, or I forgot I have to be at XXX by 5:00 when it's 4:15.

all the time and i mean all the time! it's like they dont care whether or not the kids have a life ourside of school, much less any family. whether it's for practice, a homework or something that you need to submit the following day, they should give some consideration. they simply just should.
