You could buy used text books through amazon.com
Also an easier and perhaps more time efficient (i did this) is to go to your college library with a paper with clear handwriting in your hand. Ask students if they have any of these books and you are willing to buy them off them. I did that and got books at fraction of the cost.
Stand infront of the bookstore at your college.. but a respectful distance and stop students before they walk in ask them if they have any of the books on your list or know any one that does and will buy the books for more than what the bookstore will offer. I bought one of my books off a student that i know would have been offered 10 dollars (they sell it used for 40 the scam artists) i paid 20. That student got more money for a book they didn't want and i saved money on a book i needed...
Just some suggestions.

Not a bad idea but you know what.. I do the online education thing..so I don't know exactly where I should stand in this kind of situation..I think AMazon.com if fine and ebay too..as I just sold one of my books on ebay..hoping the buyer forks over the money.
