I love Poe. I can't really choose a favorite, but the first that comes to mind is the Pit and the Pendulum. I love his work because it is very descriptive; you can picture everything; and he has a very dark style.

I think my favorite Poe poem would be Annabel Lee. I find this simple lyrical poem about a lost love very romaantic and beautifully written. Some of my favorite lines in the poem would include..."and we love with a love that is more than love...that the winged seraphs of heaven envy her and me.." Can you believe having a love as powerful like that? Another line that I like..."And the moon never beams without bringing me dreams of my beautiful Annabel Lee"...Such passion, such intensity...express in a few simple words put together so well... Yes, I think Poe wrote some romantic poems, even though he is more known for his horror stories.

I am a huge fan of Poe! My favorite story of his is probably "The Black Cat." I can't lay my finger on why I love the story so much (like most things I enjoy, it is a mystery to me why), but I do know that the eloquence of the language appeals to me. The story is somehow tragic, disturbing, and almost frightening at the same time. Poe really knew how the human mind worked and described most accurately the panic the man felt. In parts the story vaguely reminds me of his other story "The Telltale Heart" (also a favorite).
