I'm surprised why people plan their family when they don't like the relationship

Just now I recieved a call from my friend. She had been living together with a man for the past 10 years. Even from the first day, they did not have a good relationship..But they thought time would change their thoughts and that they would adjust..But nothing happened. In the mean time she gave birth to 3 children. Now they have decided to depart. I'm just amazed how she would bring up the 3 kids as a single parent. I know she was not happy with the relationship from the beginning..I'm just surprised why is that few people still plan their family when they do not a strong relationship..

I too am surprised as one of my friends also has the same story to tell. she too has two kids ,one studying in US and another schooling.During the first few years of marriage everything was fine as love was blind. On her own admission both of them were totally incompatible with each other. Once the kids were born and started growing up things started unravelling.Things went from bad to worse and now there is a cold war between the couple. They hardly talk to each other except for polite how-do--yo-do`s. They are carrying on the marriage just for the sake of the children and probably once the girls grow up and get married they will say goodbye to each other.Very sad.
