Do you get afraid when it rains hard at nights?

Normally its just ok for me to rain at nights. In fact I like it cause it makes the temperature colder and it feels cozier to sleep. But last night I got scared. Yesterday wasn't a sunny day. It's always drizzling and the clouds were all the time dark. The shower of rains yesterday would get harder, disappear and then again would rain. The weather was just unpredictable.
As night time folds the rain totally stopped. It was already 1130 pm when I decided to log out and get ready for sleep when it suddenly rained sooo hard that I felt so scared. 
There was lighting and the wind was so strong that I can hear my gates and windows trembling. The lights suddenly turned off and it was so dark inside the house. I wasn't able to move cause I was shocked.
Good thing it turned on again after several seconds. So hurriedly I ready my emergency lamp beside my bed. I had my cellphone with me and candles and matches are placed beside the lamp. It was so sudden that I texted my mom if there is a storm that I don't know about. She was not sure too but its also raining at their place.
It took long before I fell asleep. I have my pets on my bed cuddling them cause they are shaking hard. They are afraid of thunder. At the same time I was also praying the rosary. Praying helped me to be calm and it made me fall asleep soundly. I don't know what time the rain mellowed down. I woke up the next day still drizzling.
Have you experienced something that scared you before? What did you do? Do you find praying effective for you in taking away fears? Please do share!

Yes I do find praying effective in the name of Jesus Christ! I do like the rain and the thunder. it doesnt scare me it kind of gives me a high. I like to see mother nature at work! The way humans are distroying the planet mother nature is only going to have to work harder so hold on tight! Why does lightning scare you if it does? :)

I like when it rained at night because I always have good sleep. What I am scared of is the thunder and lightning. That makes me uneasy to go sleep but on a normal rain. Its ok with me.

There were times when I got scared of rain and thunder, and I still do especially if I know a storm is coming. Still, a part of me finds it exciting even if it is scary. When I get to scared I try to forget about it and think of something else. Perhaps listen to music but if the power is out I'll just sit there and try to think of songs.
Now that I have my fiance we will talk, but even then that doesn't help. It's kind of strange, I don't know whether to stick close to him or not. I know there's nothing to fear but fear itself! I'm sorry you got frightened and hope all is okay now!

I love it when it rains. It always puts me to sleep and relaxes me. I like to sit with candles lit and maybe read a good book while it rains.

Heavy rain is very normal in my country, especially at this period, it's always raining with thunder and storm. I can sleep well when there is raining, i like raining during the night. :-)

i really dont get scared when it rains hard at nights. but i do worry about my pets cause i know they dont like thunder and lightning. also, my little nephew gets scared because sometimes, there's an outage and he doesn't like the dark.
i find it effective to be near my pets when its rainy like that because at least i know how they are. praying also helps a lot.

nope i dont... but still got that feeling of being afraid... who knows what lies behind that heavy rainpour...
