Is food coloring bad for the health?

I recently watched a segment of a korean show wherein they tried to prove that food coloring in sodas can dye clothes. They used a whole bottle of orange soda poured it's content in a big bowl and they submerged a piece of white tank top. After 5 mins the tank top turned bright orange!! The amazing thing is that the soda's colored turned pale orange.. Any comments on this??
