Montevideo is the capital city of Uruguay, in South America. I was born here. Even being a big city (about one million and a half inhabitants) it's quite a quiet place to live in. At an international level it has not been in the news but a few times in the past: 1)In 1930, when it hosted the First World Football Championship (Soccer), Uruguay coming to be the winner. 2)In World War II, when the German battleship Admiral Graf Spee was sunk in front of Montevideo after seeking refuge in its harbour, as a result of the damage suffered in what was known as the Battle of the River Plate.

The name of the capital city of Uruguay is rather rare to find in news. I reckon it must be a very peaceful place. Most cities become famous because of terror attacks. Good information.
