Why do carton characters lack pants??

Just a thought ...today along with my students we were having a general question answer session ..when one of the child got up and asked why cartoon characters don't wear pants ..?? i was speechless ..i had no answer for that ....it was my luck that the bell rang at the right time ....
If you notice many of the cartoon characters don't wear pants like winnie pooh , daffy , donald duck etc ...what answers can you come up with ???

Hello,
you can simply answer that the pants are under the fur, under the feather, etc etc ;)
Or just tell them that is coz they're unreal characters. So they don't have pants as well as they have 4 fingers per hand, as well as they are talking animals, and so on.
