so i'm up to about a book every two days, and it really depends on the book. i just finished one called you aren't you right now. and i LOVED it, my mom passed it down to me. i love having another reader in the family and we both supply each other with books. i joined paperbackswap and that has saved me a ton of money, but my dumb butt ended up ordering a book i've already read! i HATE when that happens. how many books a week do you read? are you a skimmer or a reader? do people comment on how many books you read?

I usually read a book every couple of days, so we are kindred spirits. I read just about anything except romances...a bit too drippy for my taste. I keep a list, by author of what I have read, however, it's nearly impossible to always have that with me. My pet peeve is publishers who re-issue a book with a new cover, so more than once I have bought a book I've already read! Now I try to look at the copywrite dates to see if it's a reprint. We don't have any good bookswap clubs, so I now get most of my books from the library.

Have you ever read any of the forensic mysteries? If not, check out Jefferson Bass, or Kathy Reichs. They're pretty good reads too.Good luck on the pre-med...looks like you're getting a pretty good jump start! Also, knowing you're carrying a busy load, try books on CD. You can enjoy them while you're in your car.

I don't read anywhere near that fast. I go through a book or two a month, not a week. I just don't have the time I'd like to be able to sit down and read. I normally read non-fiction crime books, but right now I'm really into The Vampire Chronicles by Anne Rice. I also like to read biology and medical textbooks (crazy sounding - I know), because I'd like to know most of the material before I get to pre-med.

If they are good books, I can read one in a day! This is with constant reading on a relaxing day. Normally on a regular week I average 2 to 3 books within seven days. It just depends on how good the books are and if I have time to read them. I try to read at least one hour every night. Sometimes that is not possible. I love fiction and non fiction. I use to read the romance novels when I was younger now I like to read mysteries.

FINALLY someone like me! no one understands why i read so much. its just relaxing and a nice escape. i was a big fan of nora roberts and now, i just fine them to be redundant and boring, which is sad, since she has so many of them. i do still read the jd robb versions, but not as often. mysteries are my fav now. harlan coben is okay, but he's a lil redundant too

Yes it is relaxing and after a stressful day I would rather get lost in a book instead of the tv! My fiance hates it. He cannot understand how I can sit and read all of the time! I agree with you on Nora Roberts, loved her books but have read most of them. I only like some of her books as J.D. Robb. I just can't seem to get into them as much as I could her original one's. Author's Sue Grafton and John Sandford are pretty good. There is another one I am fond of... I cannot remember her name. Next time I am at the library I will jot it down and post it here. I also get into science fiction, such as David Eddings and Terry Brooks.

I would say I average 1-3 books a week, depending on how busy I am, and how thick the books are. If they are regular sized paperbacks, and if I spend at minimum 2-3 hours reading, I usually finished a book in 2-3 days. I usually get books from the local public library, but for favorite authors/series, I would splurge and buy my own copies. I keep track of my TBR list by using goodreads.com.

never heard of that site, gonna have to check it out. i had to stop buying books, i was spending WAY WAY too much money doing that. unless i get it at a yard sale or second hand, i can't afford them any more, plus i read like crazy, a book a day easily so paperback swap and yard sales make much more sense for me. thanks for responding.

It totally depends on the book that I am reading and the time that I have. At the moment I am reading Stephen Kings "The Green Mile" that is an excellent book and so sad and because it is good I have read nearly all of it in just a few days. With having four kids I do not have the time that I used to for reading so have to grab every minute that I can when I can. I do skim books but only if I cannot bear the suspense of knowing what is going to happen, I skim until I find out what happens and then I go back and re read what I have just skimmed.

Well when I am really in the mood, it's probably a book a week. Or atleast it used to be that way, I've found other interests so now my book reading is at the back burner!

Yes me too I used to read books all the time then I got hooked on the internet and now have other things that take up my time but a few weeks ago I picked up a book by Danielle Steel and that was it! I haven't stopped reading her books since I am reading one about every 5 - 6 days and i too also like to hop into bed and read before going to sleep

It truly depends on how much time I have on my hands. Right now I don't have any so can not take the time to read. But I usually take a few days sometimes a week. I do skim read mostly unless I am really enjoying the book and want it to take longer to finish.

Before I had kids I could definatly read a couple books a day. i LOVE to read. But now that I have kids it takes me longer to finish a book since I have to wait for them to go to sleep or something. there is no way I can read with them climbing all over me and asking for everything. We do however read a lot of kids books. My kids are 4 and 2 so it's a lot of picture books. We usually read about 4 at bedtime every night, and a couple throughout the day. SO if those count then I usually read about 6 or so books a day. LOL

It has been so long since I actually read a book, I do so much work online that I really do not have the time to read. I do read articles and stuff like that because of my e zine and the fact that I do research work as well.

my average depends upon the kind of book i am reading....if its a very interesting book and i am really engrossed in it ,it takes about 2 days or 3 days at the max.... if its more of an average kind of book it takes about one week or more.... for instance i was reading chromosome6 last week by robin cook...it was so good that i completed it in 2 days....i am more of a reader of good books and a skimmer of normal books....

Hi Dvschic, if the book is really interesting, I can finish it in a day or two. If not, I can take forever. My brother enjoys reading too; though we differ in the books we like, there are still some titles that we can swap. I used to have the same problem you had, buying books I already bought (but have yet to read). So I have set up a list of the books I have in my collection, and bring it with me every time I go to a book sale.

It sounds like you are a fast reader to me! I love reading myself but I'm not able to get through a book every two days! Still, I love the pace that I read at. I have my favourite books and I just cannot put them down at times! I love turning those pages and a nice cup of tea helps me with my reading, I feel more relaxed. I tend to read several books at once! I have them piled high by my comfortable chair! The thing about this is, I never seem to forget when I am in any one book. I don't skim books as I feel that I'm neglecting the book somehow. Anyway, reading is nothing but pure escapism for me! Andrew

I would say that I'm a reader and not a skimmer, sometimes I would read a paragraph several times to make sure that I have it and fully understand it. When I read I like to picture myself right there while it is going on. I'm a person who is very detailed.

it is not too bad, comparatively. i've read books that are much more difficult and condensed. i liked the lord of the flies, but its not my pick for pleasure reading. thanks for responding.

In my student years, I read a book in one or two days. Now, I began to read less and less. A week ago, I began to read a novel. Till yesterday, I just read for 30 pages, it is so slow. And I found most of time, I can't centralize my spirit to books.

I manage on a average to get in 2 to 3 books in about a week. I have to squeeze in time, sometimes in 10 minute increments. I also trade books with my kids, best friend and my mom. To get other books I use titletrader and I also use it it to get rid of the many books I have read. I always get comments on how do I even find the time to read, but if you really enjoy something you do find the time for it.

I am not really a book person, although I do enjoy reading a good autobiography. I only normally read it during the lunch hour at work, so it will normally take me a couple of weeks to finish the book.

I would love to be able to read a few books a week but I don't have the funds to buy them. I only get to read about one a month because I can't afford to buy them. But it only takes me about a day to finish each book, two tops if I have alot going on. I am a reader not a skimmer. I definatly read the whole book. I would love to be able to read more though.

Usually I read one book a day or more (when I've got sufficient reading materials), but lately I've only had time to read before bed and at the library itself and have been averaging three or four books a week. People do comment on how much I read - mainly my friends, because my family reads as fast as I do.
