Writing definitely helps clear the mind. It helps you get out all of your thoughts and feelings and ideas and emotions. Writing is a powerful cleanser. I know that it has helped me a LOT in the past and still now!

That's is true a diary is a cleanser or an emotion outlet, it's always good to write anything you want them when you finished just put it away and its forgotten.

I used to keep a diary many years ago (around twenty). When I had my daughters, I did not have the time anymore to fill them in. I found one about a year ago and I was amazed and so happy that I had written them. It brought back so many happy memories to me, that I otherwise would have forgotten. Keep writing in your diary. In another twenty years you will feel like me. Happy that they are there to read.

Sorry, I forgot to add the last bit. Yes writing down things certainly does help you clear your mind. It is like when you talk to someone. It helps get it off your mind.

Yeah, I always think that it makes my mind clearer when I write it down. Sometimes, when I am really upset, and I like to write down my problems and my feelings. While writing, I actually figure out the solutions for it, or find a way to solve the problems. It's always good to write down the feelings, hence I can understand myself even better.

Maintaining a personal diary is a very good habit, it gives you an insight into your personality when you re-read the past pages, it surely helps you solve your problem. You are doing the right thing by recording your personal happening, it will give you a great chance to understand yourself. I do not maintain personal diary, per se. However, recording events on mylot and sharing what has happened with me in my life, with mylot friends is not less than maintaining a personal diary, I believe. I respond to lots of discussions and in the process, I indirectly keep telling others lot about me and my life.

Oh, definately. There are so many things that you can hash out in your journal. If you're angry or sad, you can put it all down in a constructive way without hurting anyone. It's a good way to vent and blow off steam or just to record your day and important events in your life. Journaling is an awesome tool and it's so neat to go back and read stuff that you wrote years ago. I laugh when I read the stuff I wrote way back in 7th grade. I'm now 37, so do the math. LOLOL. I still journal and there are times when I wouldn't know what to do if I didn't have that outlet. Don't stop journaling. It's so beneficial.

I do think it is a good way to put everything down, but I don't really read my diary's from years ago, I did once or twice but it just brought back to unhappy memories, hopefully I will still be writing when i'm sixty lol.

My wife is 48 and she still posts to her journal almost everyday. She does not want to call it a diary. But she claims it is like a friend wherein she can say everything and that it makes her feel better.

I think it's weird but I do think that it's my friend as well. I think it is good to have an emotionally outlet.
