A friend of mine has contacted me this morning saying that an abroad big company which used to provide them 90% of their work has been declared bankrupt. So her car hire company is heading for bad times. How is the credit crunch affecting you?

So far it hasn't much since we don't have loans, credit card debt, mortages, and my husband works as a carpenter. But I have seen others almost lose their homes because of these bad times. The only thing that is effecting us is the high gas prices, food prices, and Kerosene prices(we heat our home with kerosene). I guess our property taxes will be going up as well, and electric and propane gas.

Us old folks have lost much of our savings, the young ones are loosing their jobs, it's really scary. But it's all happened before and we will make it through. Just hope I live long enough

I'm sorry, I forgot that I've lost about 20% of my retirement funds. So it HAS affected me drastically!! I just always pretend the money isn't there so I didn't think of it right away.

that is too bad. i'm always sorry to hear of any buisness closing i know how much hard work goes in to getting one startyted & keeping it going. things are cosing around here at fast speed.as for my self i had to quit work about 4 1/2 years ago on account of bad health. so about the only way it's affecting me is the high cost of everything, grceries, utilities going up etc. gas has gone down alot & i'm glad. i don'tuse much but knowalot of people have to. hope things start improving when our new president gets into office. of course like he said it took 8 years for bush to get us in the mess we are in so a solution will not come overnight. have a happy day.

yes it affects us here in canada, and the manufacturers in Canada will have to put up their costs because of it. It is all so scary, many people will be out of jobs.

THat's bad news.. ANother big company is going bankrupt again?? Looks like the recession can only got worse, and though there are bail outs by governments, but i dun think it's gonna help much.. Because how much of reserve do governments have to bail out so many companies?? Luckily i'm not in those sectors which depend on big companies, and thus i'm still safe for now ^_^

It's not affecting me personally much so far but the company I just got a job with has laid off one guy and let another go. My boss, even in bad times, doesn't lay anyone off! He has a history of keeping people on even though times are hard because he feels a responsibility to those people. The man he laid off is single with no family and the one he let go has some prospects and he is helping as much as he can. I'm sure it will effect me soon in some form. I don't borrow or own a company so the effects on me are minimal so far. I certainly hope your friend's company isn't affected badly!

I'm glad it is not affecting me at all. My company is safe so far from all the economic turmoils. I thank God so much for it! I have friends who have been affected and I really am so sorry for them because they really have to adjust a lot.
