panic buying of guns - caused by gun sellers?

a theory from Ch4 news newsletter "Finally, gun sales in America have been rocketing – again, because of the coming of the aforementioned Obama. Sarah reports from Virginia, where sales have doubled on a year ago. It seems that the surge in gun buying is a consequence of a cleverly conceived fear (by the gun sellers themselves?) that Barack Obama may move to limit or ban the sale of certain weapons."

I saw a pretty detailed report on this. This has actualy been a trend for the last 4 years. Reasons vary when broken down, buyt basicly increase in hunting, increased awareness and concern for civil liberties over the last several years, increased fear of comming civil disturbance as the economy has been slippping steadily and the desire to defend one's home and property from it. Only a small percentage has anything even remotely to do with Obama's election.

I believe that. People will always prey on the fears of others if it benefits them personally or financially. I remember the Y2K fears and how folks were convinced to but unnecessary software to keep their computers from crashing.

I can't really add much after response one was so great. But maybe there are more people becoming hunters since the economy is so bad in some areas lol Or maybe it's all of Rush's listeners running after hearing his words.
