I need help! My dog, Dutch, has always been super healthy. He's veryenergetic and has always had good weight. Lately I have noticed a decrease in his weight, but he's eating more than usual. He still has the same amount of energy too, if not more! He's not getting old, he just turned 4 this summer. not getting old, he just turned 4 this summer. on weight for the winter? (We know he doesn't have parasites or a disease.) Thanks!

Also make a note of how much weight he has lost, and the quality of his coat. If you start seeing ribs or his coat looses its luster, becomes thin, or otherwise noticable changes for the worse, then there may be some sort of nutritional issue. Bus given what you have said, I would probably agree with others that have responded that if his weight is reasonable and activitly levels have increased, the dog is probably fine. If you are going to lose weight worrying about it, a checkup with the vet may make you feel better.

he could have worms he eats and still he lose weight why? because the worms are inside him eating up his foods. worm are not parasites you have to find out what type of worms he have unless he have a medical condition don,t leave it to guessing .whats wrong with him .take him to the doctor to make sure he is your loving pet don,t leave it to chance.

well If he has been more active- he could just be expending more energy and requires more food- so he is eating it.. lol My dogs have all lost weight this summer too- because the have been running around so much outside- chasing squirrels all day long... If you know he doesn't have worms than he is probably ok- If he continues to lose weight- you can always bring him to the vet and have them test his blood for something else that might be causing this. But if he is still acting his normal self- I wouldn't worry too much.

Have you tried changing his food to one with a higher fat and protein content? I am thinking he has just gotten to used to that food and a change might be in order.

I ever had pets that included some dogs that were my favourite. If the situation described by you isn't a long time, u can take it easy in my opinion.I can have your feelings. The thing that dogs change a little of weight is usual and common no matter what season .But you should observe it carefully in the later days.

It could be many things, and I do believe the dog should see a vet. Parasites (worms) could cause it, as well as a thyroid disorder or even diabetes. A visit to the vet will give you the answer :)

I would take him to the vet for a check. Weight loss can be caused by any number of things. www.psychicpaws.com http://sorchajack-dogs-dontwejustlovethem.blogspot.com/
