some people say it's easy to give encouragement to someone who's really down. truth is, it isn't. to encourage someone means trully listening and understanding to know how a person really feels. keeping a positive attitude that reflects an image of hope can help ease up apprehensions. letting him know whatever happens, whatever is the outcome of his actions, GOD has plans for him and everything will eventually turn out for his own good.

I fully agree that it is very difficult to give encouragement to someone and it is not at all possible to do so if you do not really listen. Sometimes just by listening to the person pour out his troubles is sufficient encouragement because he/she would appreciate the time you gave for him to just bring it all out. maybe he just need an outlet. I am quite used to being the one people run to whenever they need advice and encouragement since in my office, my staff seem to believe i can solve their problems or explain away their hurts. I must be doing something right because more often than not, they leave my office with a lighter heart. But what I do mostly is listen and give words of advice or observations and comments on what best to do. It helps also to be positive in giving advice.

It is always good to give encouragement to those who are not feeling happy or are discouraged by a life situation. I know that I would appreciate kind and insightful words if I was feeling down. Sometimes in life we need a little help from others and it is good to know there is someone who cares and will be willing to listen to what we say without judging us. That is what friends are for.
