Is Someone Missing?

This list is just a few of the top ten people in the running for some the future appointment on Obama's staff list. Perhaps there are some I am missing however of all the ones I have found to be up for consideration none of them are black. Valerie Jarrett has a black father but she is very light skinned. Can anyone add any Black American to the list? Rahm Emanuel - Chief of Staff (Accepted position) David Axelrod - Senior Adviser Valerie Jarrett - Transition Co-Chair (Biracial, born in Iran) John Podesta - Transition Co-Chair Pete Rouse - Transition Co-Chair Robert Gibbs - Press Secretary

The only person I can think of right off the bat would be Colin Powell but I think he might prefer to stay retired. I'd be very happy to see James Lee Witt back at the helm of FEMA since he earned respect from both sides of the aisle which is a lot more than can be said for the horse show guy who did such an incredible job in the Lousisianna Flood. Also would like to see Paul Voelker back at the Fed since he was the only government official to go on record about the mistake being made when Glass Steagall was repealed. They are both white and male but I don't care if the cabinet has green hermaphrodites on it so long as they are competent. Anyway, there are quite a number of appointments to be made and we might see some women and people of color. However, I still think competence should be the criteria.

I think, as you say, competence should be a criteria plus experience with a good track record.

So, it could turn out that both Bill Clinton and George W. Bush both appointed top officals that looked more like America than did 0bama?

Since there are so many positions to be filled I'd say it's a bit too early to start "keeping score". The main thing I hope for is that the most qualified person is put in each position, regardless of their race, color, gender or anything else. Annie

I agree 100%. I am actually starting to feel sorry for Obama as he is inheriting a real mess. I hope he gets the best of the best in his choice of advisers.

I can't pretend to know the names Obama is considering, but in response to your question, I note there hasn't been any mention of Hillary Clinton's name, perhaps Obama will not have her in his Cabinet after all?

Who knows, perhaps it is too soon as there is not much info on the Internet. Back in June this was reported: Barack Obama's campaign is planning to offer Hillary Clinton a Cabinet post or other vital role in shepherding through health care reform if she leaves the Democratic primary race, a British newspaper reported Sunday. http://elections.foxnews.com/2008/06/01/report-obama-camp-may-offer-clinton-a-cabinet-seat/ As we all know she did leave the race so we will see if he changes his mind and does not make her this offer!!
