Sergio Garica & Padraig Harrington are really on a roll. Harrington won the last 2 majors & now Garica has won two big tornaments. Garcia has even overtaken Phil Mickelson to become World no.2. So, now that Tiger Woods taking longer time to make recovery, do you think that Harrington or Garcia can really challenge Woods for World no.1 spot or Tiger will come back roaring & safeguard his number one position?

Oh! He had two operations on one of his knee & has got a long rest period. So, he will probably come back somewhere in 2009. Yes, but he may be surprised to see that his number one position is in real danger!!!

Tiger will return just as good as he was before the injury. People don't realize that they could be watching the greatest golfer ever. I think Harrington will give him some very good competition though. Garcia will never be at Wood's level he can't take the pressure he's a joke

dhatam7, I just do not think that there will be anyone who will be able to overtake Tiger Woods's honor roll and the world ranking at this point of time. I do agree with you that the no. 2 spot has already been awarded to Sergio but look at the stats again. Garcia takes 52 events to score a 7.96 for second and Padraig 51 events to score 6.96 for third but Tiger took 40 events to amass a credible 10.46 for first in world rankings. Now, I do not need to tell you that the both of them or event the rest of the field will have a hefty task to topple that 10.46. Besides, the latest from Tiger Woods's camp that he is already recovered and working on his comeback for the Spring 09. So, there is no way and relent of that first place. I think besides the power game that Tiger exemplified in his games, I have seen that his game maturing and ever more sharper and consistent with each tournament. As some of the writers have quoted it would be a decade before anyone could displace a keen competitor like Tiger Woods and it still holds true to this day. So, I would think that number 1 spot will still be going to Tiger Woods this 2009. Cheers. Ref: http://www.pgatour.com/r/stats/
