Telemarketers

United States

I have had a home phone for approximately 1 week now. The telemarketers are driving me crazy. They somehow had my name and phone number the same day that my phone got turned on. My phone is ringing off the hook with all kinds of calls about free tickets to Arabian Nights, magazines, the newspaper, stop paying so much for this and that, the Florida Highway Patrol, mortgage, etc. Some of the same companies even call me back after i've already told them no. I used to be really mean nad nasty to telemarketers (which I feel really bad about) and i've been trying to be nice lately and just tell them that i'm not interested. My patience is wearing very thin with all of this. It would be very sad if I started lying and saying "no, she's not here!" What is this world coming to?

We are living in the age of a super fast, busy and rushed life surrounded by latest technological gadgets to feed us all type of tips, information and ideas. Telemarketing has become the order of the day. It is intended to facilitate making right choices and decisions based on facts and informations. Of course, too much of anything is annoying and undesirable. In fact,we do need to maintain a balance between the growing information explosion and our life style. Thanks.

it is better for you to say that your not interested then hung up, than listen and then you will decline in the end..

First things First! go here..and register to have your new number put on the Do Not Call registry..this will make a difference in the amount of calls you get...however if you have had any business dealings with a company they dont have to honor the registry..so for example if you bank calls and wants to sell you extra Identity Theft protection..they can and will, but companies that bought your name and number off of someone else cannot. takes a bit of time before it goes into effect..cant remember how long though. www.ftc.gov/donotcall i got a brand new telemarketing call today! it was a recorded message saying that so and so were calling on behalf of Bank of America for telemarketing reasons and would i please call them back. WTF?! yeah right im gonna call them back..how stupid. its bad enough when they call you and the auto message tells you to please HOLD!! aaargh!
