A hike a day chases your worries away

Somewhere high up in Mt. Hood - Enjoying the sunset during a hike at Mount Hood.

Everyday at work, we get to hike for a couple hours. I may not be getting monetarily paid as much as I'd rather but being able to do this while working, well, it doesn't seem like working at all. My co-workers and I have always often looked at each other and exclaim "I can't believe I get paid for this!" happily in unison. Then we silently take in the joy we get from witnessing all these breathtaking views. Here's one of the views. The sun was setting. And if I only had my way I'd play til the sun sets Beyond the horizon

I think this is admirable work. There is a link for a earthhouse hospital that specailizes in this type of thing on my profiles websites classified page. I think we will see more and more autism as we as humans live a less indingeinous life styles? What do you think. Surrounds and diet seem to be 2 big factors in treatment? :)

I am not as knowledgeable yet, avidwhit. But I think there's is not a specific and sure cause for autism. But we see numbers rise. I don't know if it's called treatment but we like our guys to stay integrated with the community and be as independent as they could be.

Do you really? I mean, what job on earth do you do Sisi? Lucky you!! That's a wonderful view and i wish I could be under the same payroll. When most job profiles do not allow you to even move a feet, you are really lucky to get paid for the wondeful working out and the subsequent wondeful view.

I work for male adults with autism and developmental disabilities, Mou. I love the job and the people I work with and for. Considering I've only been there about a month, I feel that this is right, very right for me. Thanks!

And i would say the same "I can't believe that you get paid for this". It would be a great thing to do if we could get an opportunity to do something even once in a week in a crowded city such as ours.

This Mount Hood is in Northern California. I've never been to Oregon but it's just a drive away. Thanks, danrunsfast.

I heard on Oprah that a person should have 10,000 steps daily. Uhm... can I do that in my sleep? *wink*

If you remember the next day when you wake up, alyssa, sure you can. I'm thinking of getting one of those step-counting thingies to see how many steps I've taken a day or how many miles I've done. Thanks, alyssa and have a good night's sleep!

What an awesome job you have SaintAnne, being able to take a hike every day at work, while getting paid. I would love that - that would be my way of getting exercise in every day. I want to work their too LOL

I've given this job some of the credit for me losing some weight. I get to move all the time. And I have never imagined myself to hike these many days and many miles. But that view is just way too distracting and worth it. Thanks, maddysmommy.

As we say down here, "What a gig!" Dontcha just love a pretty sunset?! Hubby yelled "Get the camera" at sunset tonight and I snapped yet another beautiful Arizona sunset tonight, but haven't put it up yet. Good for you!

As we say over here, "Right on!" I love sunsets. I think they are all pretty. The full moon was extra, extra beautiful tonight too. It almost looked like it had rays. I would love to see this collection of Arizona sunsets and others as well. I took this one on my camera phone. Next time, I have to remember to bring a real camera. Thank you, drannhh.

I believe a hike is good for you. I do a bit of hiking on my farm where I inspect the work that my farm workers do. I have to make sure everything is done properly. This is very good because I am growing food for people and plants must be cared for correctly. Cheers!!

I am glad to know that you are making sure everything is done properly. It is actually a breath of fresh air to hear someone say that that. Nowadays we really can't follow all the way to where the food on our plates came from. Thanks, underdogtoo.

I'm with you...I love working outside and being outside. I can tell you that now that I work in an office most days...I can not wait to get back out into the field. Well I guess you have to do what you have to do.

wow that is amazing. Isn't it interesting how job quality isn't necessarily tied to income. A few extra perks like this, can make your work life so much more enjoyable. I love the idea of a hike a day.

I know, glords! I'd like to tell myself that the job itself is rewarding enough. Thanks and maybe you can take your little boy for a hike when he's ready someday.

cool pics. I really admire your work coz you can hike everyday! I have been planning for a long time to do work-out but never managed to make it happen. Only twice a week, i can't get time to do that. When I get some free time, I just don't want to do the planned things, I go surfing, go to the discussion forum, and kind of wasting time. I know it's a problem but I don't know how to change the situation. Anyway, You really have a good job!

When you say surfing? You mean the actual surfing in the water or is it surfing the web? I wasted most of my last year, money, so I am trying to catch up as I can. I don't think I've worked out a good one lately. I figured the walks and hikes would make up for it. Thanks for sharing.
