When something is broken in your house, do you fix it yourself or buy a new one?

My faucet is broken. Its leaking cause it doesn't tighten anymore. Anyways, I had it fixed but just a remedy to stop it from leaking. I tie a rope around it when I have to turn it off to tighten it up bit and it works hehe
.
I always do things like that when something is broken in the house. If I can make some remedies in order to make it work I would settle for it than buy a new one or have it fixed. My family would always say, buy a new one instead or call the repairman" but no.
I have a tight budget and can't afford those extra expenses.
Everything is expensive nowadays so I try to save my appliances or anything broken in the house. Even if it will look silly and I know I can fix it, I don't call a repairman or buy a new one. If my temporary solution doesn't work anymore, then that's when I replace it.
What about you? How do you deal with broken things in your house? Are you also like me always opting for a temporary solution to save money on broken things?
Please do share!

i am not good at fixing things that break so i have to call someone to come fix. it does blow your budget away but that's just life i guess.

I know it's expensive so I just try to fix broken things myself. Sometimes I ask help from my cousins who knows about fixing things.
