The stores already have all their Christmas stuff out, actually they were putting it out before Halloween even. Many people have already started their shopping, and some are even close to being finished with it.
But then there are some who are saying it's far too early to be thinking of Christmas, since it's not even Thanksgiving yet.
Well what do you think? Is it too early for Christmas?

Christmas stuff is coming out earlier every year. I think it is getting a little bit ridiculous. I could see Christmas stuff coming out before Thanksgiving since a lot of people put up their trees on Thanksgiving or the weekend after, but Halloween is just a little too early.

I agree. I was rolling my eyes in Walmart when I saw the Christmas stuff up before the Halloween stuff was taken down. When I was a kid the Christmas stuff didn't go up until just about Thanksgiving, or even just after.
Do you think maybe some day it will be up while we're shopping for back to school? LOL

That is true, but I agree with some others that it is a bit too soon for the music in the stores already.

I dont think its too early to start the shopping since the closer it gets the nuttier things get BUT I think its a bit early for ppl to have their houses all decorated and for Xmas carols to be playing in the stores etc etc...

I completely agree. We're going to be so tired of the holiday music come mid-december!

Our shops have been full of christmas since around about October, well it was before halloween in fact. I thought that was way too early but now we are in the middle of November it is nice to see them as it helps me to get into the christmas spirit.

I got into the spirit when I put up my lights outside and it snowed the next day.
I put them up early to avoid fighting with frozen twisted wires in the cold.
They aren't turned on until Thanksgiving day though.
Unless we have a nice snowstorm which makes the spirit even stronger.
My avatar shows I am in the spirit as well.

I started to feel the holiday spirit the day I got that layaway for my kids. Just having some presents for the kids makes me very excited for Christmas to be here.

I think it's too early. We saw a house yesterday with the yard all decorated already. Complete with candy canes lining both sides of the walk way. I am all for showing Christmas spirit but I think mid November is a tad early - especially since there is no snow here yet. In my opinion Christmas stuff shouldn't come out until December.

I agree it is a bit too soon to decorate the house. For me the Christmas spirit starts with the first good snowfall, where it sticks and stays for a bit. But right now our weather is like 60 degrees... Christmas is far from my mind in weather like this.

I think it's too early for Christmas. But let's be honest, shops are selling all sorts of Christmas stuff early too and that just makes you start early. But who cares really? It's all about having a good time!

Well the shops are all about making money, so of course they get their holiday stuff out early to make us feel pressured into buying it. I always feel a bit rushed around the holidays, I always think "Oh no, only (X) more paychecks until Christmas"

Yes it is. Walmart has been playing Chritmas Music since November 1st. What! They do not think Thanksgiving is a Holiday. I know commercially Christmas is the Holiday all retailers look forward to because that is their money maker. But as a consummer I feel that it is to much. I have seen the displays in the stores since September. My parents used to own a Hallmark store. And their criteria for when to start setting out the Christmas displays was based on if they had more then two people a day asking for the Christmas products. The last several years they had the store that was in June when they started getting the more then two a day requests. To Much in my opinion.

Well in a way I can understand. Many people are starting their shopping sooner due to financial issues, also people like to do their decorations around Thanksgiving. It's hard to do decorations if they aren't on sale in stores. Halloween is a bit early, but just before Thanksgiving is fine.

I avegrown so accustomed to items being on the shelves etc so early that I start getting in the spoirit all too soon as well. But I guess I actually like it to a point. I am one that feels it is not too early as I am so used to it by now. Heck I even have decorations and my outdoor lights up already.

The problem is, the earlier we start, the earlier we get tired of it. I love seeing all the houses decorated for Christmas, and will just drive around neighborhoods to look at the houses, but I wait until a week or so before Christmas to do that.

I think it is way too early! I couldn't believe how early they put stuff out. We went shopping the day after Halloween and they already had the Halloween candy gone and the whole isle was full of Christmas candy. I haven't really started my shopping yet. I'm dreading it because we are broke.

I think that's why it's most important to start early. I have been working on picking up a little bit each week. Last week I got each kid a book, a couple weeks before that I got a $20 Walmart gift card that I planned to add to until I had a nice sum of money to do some big shopping. I also started a layaway which covers the majority of the shopping. Now I just need a few more little things for the older 4 kids, but I haven't even started on hubby or the baby. Luckily they aren't as important because hubby knows we're broke, and the baby is too young to care.

I think that it is easier for a lot of folks to start early and buying for the holidays not hi them all at once!

I do not think that it is too early for Christmas now. Before halloween it certainly was but going into the second week of November it is not. I myself have to start shopping for christmas very very early since i have so many people to buy for and am on a limited budget.

I agree, I've already started my shopping as well. The sooner you start it, the easier it is to get it done.
