Banks, cars, now CITIES?

United States

Well, first the bailout was for the banks. This was so "good" that at least one non-bank became a bank to apply: American Express became a legal commercial bank and applied for bailout money the very next day. It's STILL unclear exactly how the money is going to be given/used, and IF it will help our economy. Next, the car manufacturers are in line for a government bailout. The Dems, at least, are ALL FOR IT. Most economic experts I've heard say that at the VERY LEAST that something has to be done to fix the car manufacturers, or they will just need more money again. Their problem is their unions -- the auto makers in the South do not have unions and are OK, but in Detroit they have huge, powerful unions and they are crushing the manufacturers. So, while we're all still trying to get our minds wrapped around all of this, and trying to understand Paulsen's new announcement yesterday... I hear the headlines today: Now, some CITIES are jumping on the bailout line saying THEY also need help. When is it going to end? It's starting to look like never. It's looking like the whole country will be bailed out -- except for we citizens, and the small businesses. What do you think? For the bailouts? Think the bailouts should be handled differently or not done at all? What about the economic fallout from skipping the bailouts?

This is what socialism is all about. No the bailouts should not be done at all... for one thing they aren't working, and they won't work. As to the economic fallout... it would be best to weather the storm and ride it out the best we can. If left alone, the market and the economy will right themselves and we would be stronger for it. The only winners in a bailout are the corporate heads. The taxpayers are the losers. Have you seen the reports yet about the New Global Order? That's the New World Order under a slightly changed name that some have been warning about for at least the last thirty years... and the UN is at the center of it. http://www.onenewsnow.com/Headlines/Default.aspx?id=315312 http://www.aim.org/aim-column/obama-to-inherit-new-global-order-from-bush/ Those people that thought the NWO was a hoax created by conspiracy theorists may want to rethink their positions, because this is happening right now.

Destiny, I hesitate to bring the Bible into this, but the New World Order or the New Global Order is spoken of in the Bible. And all of the things going on are indications of calamities and End times. Just my observation.........the world has gone mad......And the only thing that will help us is prayer. There doesn't seem to be anyone on earth who actually knows, or admits to knowing what has happened or how to fix it. Sad......

I don't believe in bailouts. We just opened a can of worms. It is like children who spend all the allowance and then go to mom to ask for more...and more...and more.

Any of them in California? They've kinda been in economic trouble ever since the gas prices were hottest there over the whole summer. Kinda wiped out their money...among other things. I believe the bail out idea never should've been done to begin with, and should be scrapped now. They need a different idea. They need to take some time to figure it out -- by all means, they can hurry as much as they like, but they need to do some proper thinking and considering of the basics of the whole problem before jumping on any single idea. AND they need to listen to we, the people, more. When will it end? Well, while it'd be nice if they just saw sense on their own I figure it'll only end once we stomp our feet loud enough or scream at their gates. ...and we should probably think about doing that really soon.

America is pretty messed up due to War, But i think american auto industry messed up even before that, the one reason was or the biggest problem they were facing was, as you said UNIONS, that was one reason for fall of american auto industry, i think it is already to late for them, i think there are very less chances fo govt bailing out the auto industry
