My close friend borrowed money from me a year ago. She promised to pay me back six months ago, but to date she hasn't given me a single peso. Our payment to my son's tutor is scheduled next month, and I need the money to help defray costs. How can I make her pay without damaging our friendship? Need your suggestions. Thank you.

It is always a touchy situation when you loan money to friends and family. The friend is the one who borrowed the money, she should come to you, you should not have to chase her to get YOUR money back. I have gotten burned by loaning money to my friend, after I loaned her the money I did not hear from her ever again, and that was over ten years ago. If you are still in touch with her, I would suggest that you give her a call and let her know that six months has passed, and that you need your money returned to you. If she gets angry, let her get angry, it is YOUR money not hers. Don't feel that by asking for your money you would be damaging the friendship, she already damaged it by not keeping her promise.
