On my side of the family we eat and sit around and listen to a few certain people complain about various things, while the kids run around (outside weather permitting) the house and drive us nuts, if they can't go outside. Right now a majority of the kids are 6 and under. So things are a little loud and sometimes rowdy. On my husbands side it's basically the same thing only no complaining, just gossip. Fun! (sarcastically) So I was thinking I should find some word games, mazes or some kind of craft to do with the kids to keep them in one room at least for an hour or so. I found a great site in a magazine, www.kaboose.com They have lots of craft ideas, games to print out, coloring pages. I just thought this would be a great resourse to share with other moms. And please share what you do when your families or friends get together.

Thats a great site! We talk normally the girls stay in the kitchen and talk while the guys end up in the living room watching what ever! You know men they can't talk LOL! Every once in a while one will come in looking for more food and talk for a bit. But its mostly us girls talking. The kids are always running around makeing noise. I have realized that kids will find some thing to do when around other kids. Usually there is a poker game going at some point in the evening as well as a football torniment (the adult men play each other via video game! lol) There is always way too much food and lots of laughs which makes for a great day! I wouldn't worry about the kids too much they will find some thing to do. Having the games, mazes, coloring books out on a table is a great idea too!

Yes, what you described is very typical!!!! On my side the guys end of napping. For some reason they don't get into playing board games, or video games nor are they into sports. When they do wake up they end up talking tractors, farming, vehicles, mechanics or who knows what, but definately guy stuff. Thanks for your post.
