It is 4:00 in the morning here in my country, and one will wonder why I am doing mylot at the wee hour of the morning.. Today I will go to the wet market to buy some food stock for the family. It has been 7 months since I last went there. Before I used to go there twice a moth. when I gave birth and my sister left me, I have no choice but to buy our food from the grocery. I can't leave the kids of course, but now, my other sister is here, so I can leave my youngest to her for a while. My two other kids will come with me and hubby. I will just leave them in a fast food with a play place (just like MC do). I am really excited this day, that is why I woke up early and to kill time (we will go around 5) I do mylot. And while doing so, this cross my mind. I wonder if there are mylotters like me who loves going to the market. The market can be a dread place at times. If you just imagine, wet, muds, people who smells like they had not bathe for weeks, just a few things a wet market offers. The good thing about it is they sell products on a cheaper amount. Now it is Saturday here, a market day on our wet market. What it means? well there are more sellers today and they have this bargain place during Saturdays. MY excitement is building up.. So guys, do you also like going to your wet market? Do you also enjoy the bargains you can get there amidst the people bumping on you? Or you just prefer doing the food shopping in a more convenient grocery stores ( with carts and air con)?

I dread the wet side of a public market my dear. So I don't really like to go there. As a child I remember how my mother would bring me along when marketing but when it's time for her to buy fish and meat she would leave me at the care of one of her fruit vendor friends and there I would wait for her. I asked her why do I have to stay behind and she told you will not like it there, because the place is literally wet and muddy. One time I was very insistent to go that side so she brought me along and my goodness, I really did not enjoy. I hate the muddy water going into my feet and the smell was not really pleasing so from then on I was contented just waiting for my Mom at the fruit stand. When I got married and had to do the marketing myself, I tried going to the wet market but really I hated it and could not stand the wet floor and seeing some flies on the meat sometimes. So now, I always do the marketing at the Landmark Makati which is near my workplace. I opted not to go to the public market because the Landmark has all the things I need. Though there are some prices that are higher than that of the public market...there are also good bargains around. I really don't mind the slight difference if the price is higher because anyway we are only 3 (with 2 extras every weekend) in the family and we don't consume that much. What is important to me is that I am conveniently marketing inside an air-conditioned place. Ha!ha!ha!

5am?? That's too early for me.. lol =D Normally, going early in the morning are those fish mongers, or market stall owners, whereby they will get their stocks from the wholesale places, b4 bringing them to the market for resell.. hehe ^_^ SO which market did u go?? I did go to wet markets too when i was a kid, and my job was to help my mom carry her groceries.. haha ^_^ bUt luckily for us, the wet market is just a 10 minutes walk away.. However, we dun go at 5am, instead, 8-9am will be just nice for us.. hehe ^_^

Oh, I am not really a fan of wet markets. I mean, I dread going to those places and what I dread most is haggling. Hehehe! But I love everything bought from there, just don't ask me to accompany you or you will deal with someone grouchy. My brothers enjoyed accompanying my mother in the wet markets, they also like exploring the market, I am just not as ecstatic as they are.

Its been a long time since Ive been to a wet market. I love the fresh food they have there. But I just dont enjoy going there unlike my sister who goes there weekly. I just buy fresh food from the supermarket. Every saturday, they do have a lot of fresh items also. You just have to be early so you can get the freshest ones..

I rarely go to the wet market... i think this year... i was only able to do that twice... and the place where i went to is not really a full pledge wet market... because of the absence of mud... but there were a lot of people who smelled like they haven't bathed i days... I cannot go to a wet market since my daughter is too young... so i cannot take her with me... so i just buy the food and cooking ingredients in the supermarket... althought there are sari sari store in my area that sell fresh fish, chiken, pork, and veggies... but by the time i wake up... all the fresh stuff are no longer available...

We don't have anything like the market you describe except in the large cities. Where i live we only have farmers markets in the Spring and Summer. So now we can only go to the wholesale markets to get things like you are talking about.
