I cook them all the same however I like turnip greens with smoked meat better that plain or seasoned. Like turnip greens with smoked turkey legs. I made that the other night and my husband said they were the best greens he ever ate! Mustard and Collars go good with pork and chicken I think.
I buy them fresh and frozen. I like to add hot pepper seeds, garlic and chicken broth to meat drippings and then to simmer them.

I do like them but dont cook them oftne. Here in Oregon they are not really a part of ameal. But when I lived in the south we ate them. I usually boil them till tender then I fry bacon and take it out of the pan add the greens and add some butter and fry them a bit. They are yummy that way.

I am sorry that I can't help you with how to cook them. My mother used to cook them and I loved them, not the turnips but the greens I did like. She knew how to cook them so they were not bitter tasting. Hopefully someone on here will have a good recipe for cooking them so maybe I might can have some again too.

Yes, this is very interesting because there are so many ways to cook them. I know some people like to put vinegar on them. I have tried that too and its not bad if you like vinegar. We should learn some new ideas now. They are a good budget stretcher because they are usualy reasonably priced. @sudalunts (5523)

I only like collard greens, I do not like turnip or mustard greens. Actually I have never cooked collard greens before. The one time I was going to prepare them, while cleaning them I saw a worm and threw the whole bunch in the garbage. My mother cooks them, I think she uses ham hock for seasoning, and my sister makes hers with smoked turkey.
