As a graduate with a Bachelor in Fine Arts, and a contemporary working artist i am always interested in doing work, big and little. Its important as an artist to always keep the hands going, whether it be a sketch, design, etc. It seems that as soon as i mention i am an artist and that is what i went to school for people ask me to do something for them...for free. How is it any different than me asking an accountant to do my taxes, than you asking me to design your tattoo, or paint a landscape, or portrait of your dog, they all take time. I also find that people dont understand the value of art and how much it costs to make, dont ask an artist to do something then be suprised when the price is high, we dont rip people off, at us educated artists, we know how to price properly. This world would be nothing without art and everyone knows it.

true. every one knows that the world without art is nothing, but the pity is no one knows the value of art.i'm an artist. I can understand your predicament i always maintain a hard stance when it comes to payments. i need only one client who patronizes me and my work . I throw the bargainers away

Do they want you to do it for free or are they going to give something in return? Baked goods, free taxes, babysitting, or something you want. Barter rules! I'm a writer so I can relate, in a way.
