you always hear of people not wanting casinos to come to town because it will make more crime.. how is that? are they thinking people will steal so they can gamble more or something? or is it a lot of crap they say because they dont want the huge amount of visitors it brings with them?

Sure that may be goin through their minds but truth be told I think its just nonsense...If a person is goign to steal..they will do it for any number of reasons.

Could be but realistically thats just stupid on their part since a casino brings money and jobs to the community
Being from Niagara Falls Ont were there are now two full casinos I can say that the crime rate has NOT from what I know gone up at all...but the money and jobs coming into the city has skyrocketed since the first casino went up some yrs ago and again when they opened the second one a couple yrs ago...

well i know they want to bring in a casino where im at but oh no crime crime!! i mean come on.. if crime is gonna happen its gonna happen in my view.. i would think not having any jobs available right now would be more of a threat than a casino that would provide jobs and tourist etc.. hell it took them years to be ok with lottery tickets!! i havent seen crime go up from getting them the last 4 years

well not every one gambles though.. and you have to figure they would need motels, food, gas, other entertainment, etc..

htats exactly it...and the tourist would also be spending money at the already existing business which would up their money coming in...
Ppl hummed and hawed aobut the casinos goin up in Niagara and the one in Barrie and the one in Fort Erie etc etc but the reality is all of them goin up has benefited each of those towns/cities..

No I think it's true. I remember when I lived in Philly and used to visit Atlantic City. It was a nice, safe beach town until the casinos showed up. I'm not against that either, I used to love to go and gamble in the casinos but the town had gone downhill outside the casino strip and it really was bad compared to what it was before they were there. Lots of scammers, scary guys lurking around and just plain old run down.
