Calculator or Abacus

Hello, to be sincere i was people using abacus in china only. I guess in some countries people neither know what abacus is. And i know what it is, and what's is purpose, but i don't know how to use it, coz in our schools they don't teach anymore how to use an abacus since lot of time ago

Of course, I would use calculator. It is fast, concise, and accurate. I think, nobody uses abacus anymore. It is very slow in calculating large numbers.

I do use a calculator on occasions, but not very often. I much prefer to use simple arithmetic without any aid, unless the numbers are very obscure in which case I would check the results to avoid simple errors. As for an abacus, not only have I never used one but I doubt if I would be able to use one properly. I have only ever seen one in use, which was in Bratsk in Central Siberia. The lady using it was obviously very accustomed to it because she counted so fast that I could not even follow what she was doing. I would love to see one used slower so that I could understand the process, although I doubt if I would use one in practice.

Hi there Shounak! I prefer calculator. I haven't actually tried using an abacus but I am used to using calculator and it seems easier and faster to use.
