Have you ever expected a check that took forever to come?

My husband was in an accident about a month ago. It caused $1300.00 worth of damage to our car. We've been awaiting the insurance check ever since. We got a letter a couple weeks ago saying the insurance company was waiting for the police report to be finalized. But we still haven't gotten the check. We could really use it right now.
We're hoping to fix my van with it, that will cost us $400. Then hubby's car needs a little work, a water pump and new tires. Both vehicles need to be inspected before the end of the year. Then whatever is left will go towards Christmas shopping.
Have you ever had to wait for a check that took forever to come? Are you waiting for money now? What are, or were, your plans for that money?

I have twice in my life had to wait for a disability check. Once was when my mom went blind. We had nothing, I mean nothing to eat in the house. I was pregnant and too young to work, and she was a single mom raising 3 kids. My sister was only about 2 at the time. Those were hard times.
Then when I first started dating my husband he was waiting on a check too. It wasn't so bad for him, I helped him out now and then and brought him out to eat... lol, it was me taking him out on dates, how funny. His parents also lent him money when he needed, but I know he felt bad because he was broke on Mother's day.

Actually I had a fender bender a little while ago and the damage was about that. I have Allstate and they were really fast giving me a check. But Even though it was kind of my fault there was no tickets issued. So there was no police report that I know of. So in your case it could be different.
I understand about waiting for money or rather needing the money. I've started a program and I'm almost complete and I'm can't wait till I get a check. But I have to wait. Waiting takes forever but for other thingss the wait is short like Bills.

This accident was the other guy's fault, and he has Prudential. We have Allstate as well, but it's the other guy's insurance that needs to pay us.

I waited for a check to come from a car accident that took nearly a year to get. With the money I bought a car and with the rest just paid some bills. It took forever to come and just a little time to spend. I guess it always works out that way.
