How do you keep your discussions current and interesting?

Do you occasionally save back a good discussion for a so called rainy day or do you write new discussions everyday .Also do you only write on current issues or are you likely to draw for an issue from the backdrawer dust it off and reburbish it?. Personnally I may hold back a discussion especially if I have met my quota for the day(yes I try to have atleast ten participation ).Also if its late and I believe I will get greater viewership if I send it the other day I may hold back. Also I would like to know where you get your experiences from ,are they only personal or do you draw inspiration from others.I will listen in on other persons conversation from time to time and I sometimes get ideas from that.
