Who do you like in the books but not in the movies?

Which character do you think was cast poorly? Everyone has their favorite person to love and their favorite person to hate... Which character is both for you? I absolutely love Luna Lovegood in the book but I don't think the casting or the way she was written for the movie was good. The actress herself I'm sure is a fine actress but I just didn't care for the way Luna was portrayed in the movie. She just wasn't strange enough.

I agree with philjas about Dumbledore and about Luna. I think Hermione was poorly cast looks-wise--actually, it's not really the casting, but the hair and makeup, I guess. She doesn't look like Hermione should. Her acting is great, though. One thing I really didn't like about the movies was the werewolf in the third movie. He was described as looking like a wolf in the book, but in the movie, he's this weird hairless beast. He doesn't look like a wolf at all.

yeah I hate the way movie makers have to change little things like that. Why can't they just go by the book? The books are obviously great! Why stray from what works... Don't fix what ain't broke!!

I'm the other way around with Luna, I liked her well enough in the books but I LOVE her in the movies. I haven't liked Michael Gambon as Dumbledore that much. Trelawney I liked better in the books too. I was also disappointed that Tonks didn't get much to do in the movies (well, so far.) The actress is fine, but she was a much more interesting character in the books.

Oh I completely and utterly agree about Tonks... I loved her in the books. I do hope she gets more lines in the upcoming movies. I agree about Trelawney too. I love the one part in book 5 I think it is when she is walking around the corridors with Tarot cards mumbling to herself while Harry is under the invisibility cloak. I don't think she had enough screen time to appear as scatter brained as she really is.

I haven't enjoyed Michael Gambon as Dumbledore. I don't know how much of it is him and how much is the director, but especially in number 4 he seems helpless and awkward. Not like a wise, powerful wizard. All that shouting and stuff, I don't think I remember Dumbledore doing any of that in the books. He seemed like a much more 'Yoda' like character in the books. Like the first Dumbledore. Also, I just never have been 'feelin' Cho. She is a cute girl, but it seems out of place that Harry would like her so much and I just can't see her at all as a Ravenclaw Seeker - too prissy. Quidditch is a rough game and I just have never seen anything in the acting that would indicate she could handle something like that.
