You are either going to be totally ignored, or you're going to get a whole lot of people pointing out to you that most of the world's great cooks are men. I am, or rather was, a professional cook, not a brilliant one but hey, and I cook considerably better than most women I know. Not all, just most. And I believe the reason a lot of women aren't good cooks is because they are EXPECTED to be good cooks by sexist males and sexist society, and they resent it so much they don't bother trying. Lash

Cooking is for everyone. I love to cook things in the house, but my husband is a great grill cook. He makes the best steaks, hamburgers, and fish on the grill. I make homemade pizza dough and get the toppings ready, and then he cooks it on the grill. My sons and nephew are also great cooks, especially on the grill. My nephew does most of the cooking for his family, as his wife doesn't have much interest in cooking.

Cooking may not be something everyone wants to do but it is something that everyone should know how to do. I taught myself to cook and I can cook basic dishes and the occasional recipe but my partner is a much better cook that I am. He was trained to be a chef so he not only knows how to cook well and quickly he understands food and make wonderful dishes without recipes. In our house, he cooks all the casseroles and stir fries etc and I cook the roasts and reheat the frozen casserole meals. He is a wonderful cook and it makes a big difference when someone has been trained to cook but it is also important to have a love of cooking. Most women at home cook because they are expected to do it and many of them hate it and people who hate cooking tend to not do a good job.

Traditionally, cooking is for women and prospective wives. but it ends there. most chefs are men..............and they do a really good job. some men even have it as a hobby. cooking is cool, and should be open to every gender.

There are good and bad women cooks and good and bad cooks who are men. There are many famous male cooks/chefs. There are many cooking shows hosted by men and most of the finalists on the cooking competition show "Top Chef" are men. Of my friends and family most of the good cooks are women but I think the men could be just as good with enough practice...they're often just not interested in cooking.

I do not quite agree with you. If women can really prepare good food better than men, why is it that there are more male chefs? I rarely cook nowadays but the food that I prepare is generally better than what my spouse could dish out. Even when I was in Cambridge I could outflank my female friends from Malaysia when it came to cooking. I did not use monosodium glutamate as a taste enhancer. Men in my opinion are generally more creative. They also like to confront challenges and try new things. Naturally this can lead to better food preparation. May burnt chicken do not haunt you.

Cooking doesn't refer to gender. I think most of the popular chefs are men.

I am not so sure with that statement. In my case, my father is a better cook that my mother. My mother knows that it is a fact, so she lets my father does the cooking for dinner .

It depends on the cook. Why have a woman making cooking if her food tastes awful? Same with man, some are good at it and some aren't. Cooking is for everyone,as long as they enjoy it.

Actually cooking is for those that want to eat and stay alive. :) It's okay to have mom's home cooking but if you don't learn how to cook for yourself you will either go hungry a lot or you'll be ordering a lot of take out. I think the reason most woman cook is because they find men that are willing to let them cook rather than do it themselves. Also mothers tend to teach their daughters to cook and dad's teach their boys to do manly things. When I was growing up my two sisters stayed in the house with mom and I was out in the barn with my dad. But once I grew up and was on my own I learned to cook. I am a much better cook that my wife. Of course I would never tell her that.

Nonsense. Some of the best chefs in the world are men. Cooking is an equal opportunities activity - it makes no difference if you're male, female, white, black, green, have three heads or no legs. Some people just have a talent for it. In our house, it's always me (the man) who cooks, as I'm better at it than my partner. She does, however, make -amazing- omelettes!
