Today I went to CVS Pharmacy today. I had a few things to get that was on sale. I saw a plain fleece throw that was 50x60 for 7.99. I got this idea. I know how to do some really nice edgings for crochet and I know how to do fringe. So, I know that I can whip up a edging in 2 hours. The fleece has stitches that are used as the hemming and that is what I use. I use to buy the baby sized fleece receiving blankets and whip up the edgings for my cats bed. The cats loved it and fleece is easy to wash. The fleece throws come in all different colors, so I might go back and get some more to do for Christmas. DCMerkle

What a great idea...I'm definitely going to do some. I have bags and bags of wool that will finally get used up. Thanks for the idea!

I'm just finishing up one and it did take me longer than I thought. With one day that I didn't work on it, it took me a total of maybe two to three days. I would work on it for maybe a couple of hours at a time while I was watching a tv show, Heck, I put on the first round while watching a football game....lol DCMerkle

I really like this idea!!! I crochet, and have seen plenty of edging instructions telling you to push the end of the hook through the fabric, etc. etc. I just figured trying to get it through the fabric would be a pain. But using existing blanket stitches to hold the crochet edging - WONDERFUL!!! Heck, whipping on a blanket stitch is pretty easy in and of itself, so I can edge lots of other things now! he he he. Thanks DC, you just inspired me! :)

The stitches, depending on the strength of the stitch, really doesn't matter if you have broken a stitch because all the other stitches still act as the base and the crocheted stitches become the base of the pattern. They really do come out nice and depending on what kind of wool and pattern you use they come out really rich looking. I'm starting to go through all my craft supplies and getting even more ideas...lol DCMerkle

They really do come out wonderful. The throw I have is cream and I'm using a Red Heart, Super Saver yarn that I got at Walmart, in melon color. DCMerkle
