left out by the Christmas hype...

Ever since I was a little kid I have dreaded this time of year for one simple reason: I do not celebrate Christmas. The minute Halloween is over it seems everyone goes into Christmas mode. I am forced to suffer through music, television special, store products, etc. that completely ignore my holiday (Chanukah). When I was in school, it made me so sad when even the teachers made us do Christmas stuff and did not care that maybe this year I wanted to make a menorah in art or play a Chanukah song in band!
Does anyone else feel left out by the so-called "holiday" season? Do you think in a country as diverse as the USA there should be mroe available for people who celebrate another holiday during this season?

Sorry to hear about this, and especially so because I'm Christian. Did your teacher and schoolmates know you're Jewish? Perhaps you just need to let other people know WHY you don't celebrate Christmas. In the US, despite its being so diverse, Christmas is still considered a holiday due to tradition, and not because it's Christian (arguable on this one).
You could help others here learn about Judaism and being jewish. I for one am interested, especially in your feasts and holidays.
(I've requested to be added as one of your friends here).

Haha, yes they all knew I was Jewish. I also made it clear that I wanted to do other things for the holidays. I am going to become a teacher when I finish college, and I believe there is no place for only celebrating one holiday in the classroom. Either you teach them all, or you don't teach them at all.
