Are There Still Places to Donate Old Glasses Frames?

I remember in the past there was a box at the post office where you could drop old frames off. I know a lot of eye doctors won't use old frames again, but some do so I would think that these frames could still be donated to the poor.
I kind of find it a waste when a place won't use old frames. Thankfully my eye doctor will continue using my same frames for as long as I like. But I just found several frames that I had as a child and I really don't see any reason to save them for sentimental value or anything like that, I'd love to donate them as they're still in good condition.

I know for sure where I go to get my glasses now they don't have this, but I go to a specialty place. This does give me another idea though, maybe LensCrafters or another one of those mall eye doctor places would have one and then I could just bring the frames along next time I go to the mall. I will take a look. With all the Christmas shopping I still haven't finished, I guess I'll be at the mall again soon anyway.

I donate my old pair every year or 2. My eye glass place still does that. I think it's an excellent idea & they should have this everywhere.
I know Wal-Mart use to do it here.... I'm sure you can find a eye place that will accept a donation of glasses... try calling the ones in your area & ask around.
Good luck!

Oh thanks, that is a good idea. I don't normally go to Wal-Mart but I'll bet that they do that here too, I'll go in and check it out.
I bought a pair of frames at Wal-Mart that's the one I wear now. I don't know if they'll last enough to make it to donation, but at least the other bunch of frames I have will definitely make it. I was apparently much more careful with my glasses as a child.
