I've been a photographer for years and i love using Nikon but some of my friends think that Canon is much better than Nikon. Do you also think this is true? Because I didn't have problems with my Nikon and the quality of photos are really great.

It's a dumb argument! Canon and Nikon are companies, not cameras! The cameras they make are very diverse and there is more difference between one Canon and another, and bettween one Nikon camera and anther, than there is between brands. If you compare a Canon Powershot with a Nikon D60, the D60 is better, but that's a compact point and shoot vs a singlw lens reflex; compare the Powershot with an equivalent Coolpix and it is a different matter. Also, what is true today may not be true tomorrow. A couple of months ago, Canon had the only full-frame SLRs and there was no question which full-frame DSLR was tops: now Nikon have released 2 or 3, and they have features and technology that the older Canons don't! The quality of any one camera in the extensive ranges of both companies is very high. Same with the lenses and other accessories. You can rely on any of them to be a great choice for your particular photographic needs; you certainly don't need to go putting down the company whose camera you didn't choose!

I think that I prefer Nikon because I hear a lot of good comments about Nikon.

My first DSLR was the Canon 350D, I bought it because it has the highest rating in each and every gadget/techno article I can find. Back in those days, Nikon was just starting to introduce their DSLRs, and they were way behind Canon then. I got stuck with Canon, after buying a few more lenses, flash, and other accessories. Nowadays, Nikon has caught up, and is pretty much on par with Canon(some say slightly better), but I still prefer Canon, coz it will be a complete waste of money if I ever switch brand now. Cheers!

I prefer Nikon than Canon. It's no surprise that a lot of people would go for Canon because its easier to use than Nikon. Nikon is a bit complicated but once you get the hang of it, I think it's really cool. I used to assist my grandfather because his a photographer so I get to see a lot of cameras but I learned to love Nikon more than any other brands mainly because I started with it.

I've always used a CANON camera. I think Canon is better than Nikon. I seem to relate Nikon with electric fans or something other than cameras. LOL!

There has always been a Canon lying around the house. I've never really had the opportunity to use anything, but a Canon. So, I wouldn't know which I prefer between a Canon and a Nikon.

if you are to the one to really do Photoshop on your works, if you're so into post-processing, i believe you should get a Canon because Nikon RAW files aren't that compatible with Photoshop, you'll have to download and install patches and stuff. With Canon, it easily reads the RAW files.

I worked in a camera store for about 3 years, and we had many pros that came into the shop. It's pretty much a debate similar to likes of the coke/pepsi challenge! hahaha. There are so many people that swear by one or the other. I have a canon dslr which i love, but i kind of wish i would've gotten a nikon! haha. That's just because i like their lenses, there seem to be more options. That and cute 'ol ashton kutcher is in the commercials! lol. Just kidding about that one. Either canon or nikon are great choices. Happy shooting!
