Two-sided discussions

Discussions here in MyLot should be two-sided. That is, there are two sides, the pro and con. It's whether you agree to it or you disagree.
What I see is that, some people don't welcome comments that do not coincide with their discussions. And if you disagree to them, they give you a - rating. I think this is unfair.
For me, I comment on a discussion even if I disagree to it, I'd really say it there. And I rate a comment based on its quality. Eventhough I disagree with their views, but they posted it in a clear and concise manner and I understand they point, then I give them a +...
I think, that should be the manner things should go here. Hope you guyz understand.

You are right. People here aren't afraid to speak up even though there is the possibility of getting a negative rating for posting something that is against another person's opinion.
User-rating is really prone to abuse. To improper usage like using negative rating to get back to someone who disagrees with you but I believe that not all user-rating comes through like what was mentioned in Mylot FAQ's. Mylot filters the ones that are likely to be given without right reasons.

Yes, we should not be afraid to speak up even though user-rating is prone to abuse. What is important is that we expressed what we feel and relay our opinions. In this way, we learn from others and they will learn from us. I hope MyLot really filters the user-ratings.

You cannot tell people what they want in their life and what pleased them. There are a lot who are narrow minded and won't accept anything except their own not knowing that there are things that work fine at their side which isn't or possibly not be working on the other side of the pond. It is just hard to let them understand that. So, I won't be bother with this kind of attitude, I'm more than a continent away from harm. I am safe here in my niche and my happiness doesn't depend on them so who cares.

Yeah, a lot of people are narrow-minded and are not open to suggestions.
Well, I am not starting this discussion to give them a negative credit or to make prejudice against them; but I am only saying what is on my mind. We are free to express our opinions, right?
We can't just not care about them, we are here on mylot for a purpose and one of which is to help each other.

I don't really care if anyone rates a negative. It is their right and their choice. I do not care about fairness. I just do my discussions and leave everybody else to theirs. Cheers!!
