Do you think governments should impose restrictions on number of children?

Who do you think is best to determine how many children you have.In China there are restrictions on the number of children a family can have and they are the most successful country in the world now. They have little or no delinquencies or orphaned children and little or no crime rate (granted they have other measures to deal with crime),so they must be doing something right. They have a one child policy that is only eased for certain circumstances like in rural areas and only child parents. This situation sharply contrasts with other countries with no restrictions where delinquencies and orphans are rampant.I also think it allows for better planning and utilization of the country's resources because you know where the population growths are likely to be.

My good friend told me today that her sister in law has 8 children under the age of 9!! I think this is absolutely ridiculous! Children are not collectables, they are people. How on earth can one woman take proper care of 8 children? I mean if you have the money to have nannies and lots of extra help then by all means, do what you want so long as you are providing the proper care and not relying on the government to pay for your childrens needs. But for ordinary people like myself, 2 children is plenty, I can even see 3 or if you want to really push it then 4 children. So yes, I think there should be some sort of limit. Or atleased have some kind of government policy that after a few kids people like me wont have to be paying for other peoples kids and I can just worry about my own.

If a Chinese couple get married they might wait two years before the wife attempts to get pregnant. Then they would have a baby. Imagine the worry of the wife getting a surprise and unplanned second pregnancy. Knowing she is restricted by the one child policy she would be in an awful situation. I don't agree with abortion but I do agree with adoption. I have heard Chinese couples wish to have a boy and some girls are given in for international adoption. I think China is trying to reduce its very high population and that is understandable.

Sometimes I wonder if it would be a good idea but then again you would be trampling on the rights of people by telling them they can only have one o two children. On the plus side may cut down on states having to have so much money for welfare. People popping out babies that can't afford them and the sstates having to foot the bill. If you can't afford to have a child common sense tells you or should tell you to do something so you don't until you can. You want to hve a family have a job where you can afford them. You had a job and lost it don't have anymore kids until you are working and able to take care of them. We didn't have a lot of money when I was growing up buy my dad was able to keep food on the table and clothes on our backs. When he was out of work and we had to get help for couple months it wasn't long before my dad had another job and we stopped the extra help from coming in from the state. That is the way the system is suppose to work. We knew one lady that would have kids so she didn't have to work and she could stay home and draw welfare. hops off my soap box. whew sorry bout that

I think there should be restrictions if they are having kids to stay on welfare and avoid finding work to support themselves and family.
Sometimes i think there should be mandatory parenting course before anyone is allowed to have children.
I myself love kids and would love (on good days)have more. But if My husband and I decide to have more we'd look for an older child who needed a good family to adopt.
