My daughter is 2 years old. Well she is 27 months to be exact. I am in the process of potty training her. However, I am having difficulities getting to understand when she has to pee. I know alot of people say their child takes up until the age of 3 to potty train...but I need advice on how to help her understand the sensation you feel when you need to pee. And I need advice on how to get to her to start pooping on the potty chair as well. She thinks it is "yucky" to poop on the potty. Thankyou in advance for your suggestions!

Honestly when I was potty training my daughter, I placed her on the potty once every hour and if she accidently went potty for me she got a sticker. If she went poopy she got a special treat like Teddy Grams or something like that. I also got her a video to watch that explained everything about how to the potty. Most importantly, I took her diapers away, no fail safe, she use to run around the house naked at times and if she had to go she either peed on the floor or made it to potty. Not saying it is not messy, but it worked. My daughter was potty trained before she turned two. She had accidents occassionally because she waits to long because she is playing. Good luck.

Yes, my daughter loved the video, she would sit and sing and dance to it. The video was called No More Diapers, it was great and helped her to understand what she was suppose to do.

I really like the method you used. I think I will try it myself. Did you daughter actually pay attention to the video? I will have to go look for one this weekend. Thankyou for sharing this information with me :)

cute :) you have to let her practice w/o diapers and you can let her visit the toilet every 2-3 hours :) you can always let her understand to tell you if she's gonna "weewee." she will soon learn that "weewee" means she has to pee inside the toilet. i had a hard time doing that also but just be patient :)

So then you think it would be okay for me start putting little panties on her, as long as I put her on the potty every 2 to 3 hours? I have been hesitant about using them, but I think I will try them! Thankyou for your help!

I used to keep my little boy every morning on the potty and in just a few day he learned to use it. But he was 5 months when i dit that. You don`t have to keep her there for long, but she must understand that is something normal and she must do it every day. The sensation will come after she is used with the potty. And the pee won`t be the first, before anything, i think she will make caca in the potty. But you must act like you are on the toailet too, maybe even stay both in the bathroom when you do that. And don`t be disapointed if it won`t work first time, don`t give up and she will do it. Anyway, I`ll be waitting for news to find out how you solved it.

And something more: do not use singing pottys because will distract her from what she has to do and she will lioke to play with the potty and not use it as it should.

Thankyou for your help! I did not take into consideration that a musicalpotty chair would distract her!! That is what I have been using. I am going to buy one that is a plain, simple potty chair this weekend. Hopefully that helps!! Thankyou soooo much for pointing that out!
