During Obama' campaign he was pretty outspoken about lobbyist.
He said " I am running to tell the lobbyist in Washington that their days of setting the agenda are over. They have not funded my campaign. They will not work in my White House."
But this weekend the New York Times published a very long list of people that are working on Obama's transition team or have excepted positions in his white house that have very strong ties to Lobbyist or are former lobbyist themselves. The Times said some had been lobbying as recently as this year.
What do you think about this? Is he already breaking promises?

As someone else said - he will find ways to "justify" his failures and his supporters will blame someone else.

Not really. I wonder when reality is going to kick in for the Obama supporters. They said he would do it all, he would change.....he is just more of statis quo.

During Sen. Obama's short time in Congress he collected more money from lobbyists than almost anyone else, even those who have been in Congress for decades. What makes anyone think that Prs. Obama would really turn away money that Sen. Obama happily accepted?
It was just a lie in the first place.

yep. It is actually one of the few promises of his that I liked. I was hoping he would actually hold to it. I know it was a pipe dream, but I was hoping.
He has not even gotten sworn in yet and he is backing down what I consider a major promise. Especially sence he talked strongly against lobbyists for two years. I wonder what the main stream press is going to make of this?

It was a promise that I liked, but since he has always been bought and paid for, there was no reason to believe him.

He broke a multitude of promises throughout the campaign. Why would anyone be surprised that he's breaking this promise before he assumes office? This is the man who received more money from Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac than any other politician except Chris Dodd. I knew this was coming and I knew he already had former lobbyists working for him. The media just wouldn't report these things on Obama during his campaign.

You are right. All the media talked about was McCains campaign people that had ties to lobbyist and that Obama did not. Which was a lie.
It will interesting to see what Obama's spin on already breaking campaign promises is and if the american public accepts it hook line and sinker.

Only the beginning Lil'. Expect this to be a trend. The next thing to disapear will be his oposition to the Fairness Doctrine. The media groups that got him elected have pushed for this thing. And after getting Obama elected, they will be expecting payment due in the form of this and other agenda, with a number of Democratic leaders in congress already buzzing about reinstating this thing, it wil be a groundswell he will find hard to ignore and dependng on how a few other still undecided congressional elections go, he may not be able to ignore it at all.

I think he did like most politicans and made promises he knew he would not be able to keep or even try to keep just to get into office.

It's not suprising. Washington runs on lobbyists, so do state governments. They finance campaigns, if not directly then indirectly. They whisper in our representatives ears explaining how things can help their individual states and their people back home... has always been that way, will never stop. It's just one of those empty campaign promises he made that people accepted without questioning him on how this exactly would be achieved. It's politics and slick talking at it's best. People fell for it or simply wanted to demonstrate that the US is not racist and didn't care.
Either way, we have to live with it for four years. My hope is that Americans wake up and don't believe all that sweet talking he does and all the excuses he'll give for not delivering on his promises. I hope that whoever runs against him points out how the opposition, even within his own party during the primaries, pointed out that his goals are completely unrealistic to achieve all at once, especially in these hard times.
It will be everybody else at fault, just not Obama;)
