Check your credit card bills....

I was just online to see what my credit card balance is and I noticed that when I went shopping the other day, Pennys charged my account twice for the same purchase. It was a $54.99 purchase, so it caught my eye right away. I don't know about everyone else, but I usually just scan my credit card bill and then pay it. Especially around the holidays when I am charging everything, I don't have any idea what I have charged where. Well, from now on, I will be checking my bill every month for errors like this. Do you go over each purchase on your credit card bill or are you like me and just scan and pay it? Have you ever found huge mistakes on your bill?

So far i dont incounter problems like that, I always check my credit card bills together with my purchases receipt in my statement of account. All of them are post correctly. Well since you found something wrong about it, just contact right away the customer service hotline to report such incident so they will make some correction of that transaction. Thats what i always do when i have question about my credit card bills.

Oh, I called my credit card company immediately and they took care of it. You must be very organized to double check your bill with your reciepts. Good for you!

I always check my bills all of them. Even my electric, water and gas. I look to see what I used the last month compaired to the current month. Some times I even look to see what I used in the same month the year before! I started doing this when my electric bill was almost doubled. It didn't make any sense how my bill went from 120 to 330!!! Come to find out some one was stealing my electric!!! I check the water just because if I use a lot more then there may be a leak that I don't know about. As for credit cards. I don't use them often so I would know right away if there was a charge that didn't belong.

My husband and I always check out our Credit Card and Bank account statements now all of the time. We have had so many times it seems like where somehow somewhere someone is charging something on our account that was not authorized to be there as well. And then we have also had Extra Charges on our accounts before as well, and it can be quite annoying. Hopefully you were able to take this to a Manager at Jc Penney and have them easily correct this for you as well. We for sure do not need extra charges on our accounts this time of yr. for sure.

I have a great credit card company that takes care of the mistake for me, so I didn't have to even call Pennys. You are sure right, I certainly don't need any extra charges especially this time of year.

I always check my credit card bills and see what I've spent for every month. By doing this, I also sort out where I spent the most money, and where I can save more. I haven't find any mistakes on my bill so far, hopefully I won't get it too. Luckily you did check for the issue you mentioned, otherwise you'll have to pay twice the amount. ^_^

I usually will scan my bill, but I charge everything~ my groceries, my gas, everything. Then I pay it in full at the end of the month. I always have about a million Walmart charges, so if they did it, I would never even catch it. I don't usually go to Pennys, that is how I noticed a double charge.

You should always check your credit card bills and even your bank account. Once I had a convenience store charge me 5 times for the same purchase. Turned out that their credit card machine was acting up that day and at least 20 other people had the same thing happen. And when I was a single mom and every penny counted, I discovered that checks are often encoded wrong, even in today's electronic world. I usually found at least 50 cents each month in error in my bank account, and usually in my favor. But I did report errors even when they were in the bank's favor...and they appreciated that. In fact, one month they gave me a $5 credit because I corrected two small errors that were in their favor.

I totally agree about the bank account too. Once I electronically paid a bill for $35.09 and they took $3509.00 out of my account!!! YIKES!! Luckily the hospital was where the bill went to and I knew the person who was in charge of that department. She called me so they didn't cash the check, but for some reason they still took it out of my account~ it was a mess, but then I went to the bank and the lady there took care of it for me immediately.

wow, from now on I will check every item on my bill. I never check the details when I receive the bill, what I care most usually is the final number, I much I should pay this month. but I think such things seldom happened in China. You are not in china, right? So nowthat you found that the bank charge you twice for he same purchase, how you do for this later? is this issue settled?

NO, I am in the US. I called the credit card company and they take care of it for me. If the store agrues about it, then I have to file some kind of formal complaint. I have my receipt so it shouldn't be a problem.

I try to check my bill online often, but some months (like Nov.and December) I charge a lot so I just do a quick scan. I guess I should be more thorough. Glad you caught that charge, sunshine! $55 is a lot of money!

I probably wouldn't have even caught it if I werent' checking online. With my bill, I don't go threw it very carefully. I did know that on this particular day I went to one store~ Pennys~ and bought my son a Christmas gift. I had asked the girl for gift reciepts and she made me rescan my card. I guess I should have caught that in the store.

I definitely keep track of all my bills. I'll go onto our online checking just to be sure that my amoun matches with that the bank has. This also tells me if there are still some checks floating around out there. I would hate to think I have more money than I actually have only because a check hasn't cleared yet.

I have had a double charge on my card before, but the bank usually catches it and credits it back to my account. I have had a fradulant charge (someone in the midwest got himself a round trip ticket somewhere) and it was easy to say, hey that's not us. The credit card company reversed the charge and interest for it.

That is good that the bank ususally catches it for you. I know my credit card company has called me before on purchases. I was online ordering in NY and my husband was in a different town at the grocery store using the card, while my son was in PA using it. I was impressed that they caught this even though it was all us.

You are a wise consumer, then. I don't often do more than just scan my credit card receipts. I know I should do better with this, but I am lax. I just make so many purchases on my credit cards that I can't really keep a mental note of all of them.

I don't have a credit card bill. I do have this one time near mistake though. One time i was at walmart only getting one thing. I went to check out and the woman rung up the item twice by mistake. I then tried to point it out to her and she said no i didn't. So i said yea you did. She said how much was this item and i told her. She then realized it was rung up for two. So i was glad i paid attention. Otherwise i would be paying for something i didn't have.
