This Discussion is coming up because I am curious if you are a gratful person when it comes to getting gifts for the holidays. I got to say that I am grateful in fact so grateful for I get. In fact every year I will tell my hubby one or two things I would like for christmas. Usually it is a certain CD or cooking items. I will say that he does seem to get me more then what I ask for because he say's that it's not fair that I get him more gifts then what he gets me. I always have to to tell him that I don't care about getting gifts that I only care about giving them, because to me when I see the smiles on my family's faces that there alone warms up my heart. But the other day when I was at my hubby's family thanksgiving party, all of us adult's decided instead of us buying for each child we would pick a name for ecah child we have and the name's we pick is the names of the children that our children buy for, I think it was such a good idea since most of us still have tons of other people to buy for. So I figured since we all were on the christmas topic, I decided to ask my hubby's niece what she needed or wanted for christmas, so that I had ideas of what she would like. So she named off about a good 20 items and I told that she will get 2 gifts and she then said only 2. I said yes and asked her is there a problem with that and she said I was hoping for more then just 2. So I told her that she should be grateful that she is getting 2 gifts insted of none. So what I am wondering is was I was wrong for saying that to her? Her father did not say any thing to me about telling her that. Also are you grateful for what you get?

I don't like when someone isn't grateful for something I give them. They sometimes can look a gift horse in the mouth. That is not very considerate. I do feel that I am grateful when it comes to gifts that are given to me. I am blessed with what I already have and if someone gives me something extra that I need I really appreciate it. I believe that life is more about giving especially when it comes to the holidays. It is always nice to receive but I just feel better if I make someone else happy by giving them something that they wanted. Complaining is not something I would do if someone gave me something I really didn't like. I would just accept it with graciousness.

I so like your response, I belive that everyone should be grateful for what they get because you never know when the last time will be that you even get anything from that person. Even if I got nothing I would still be grateful because I got family that loves me and that is something to be grateful for. Happy Mylotting

Thank you for putting me in as best response. I appreciate it very much and I also appreciate what you have said about being grateful to having a good family. It is not always the things people can give us. It is also about the love and acceptance from family and friends.

I am grateful and thankful for any gifts that I receive from people no matter how small or how inexpensive. It truly is the thought that counts.

That is so true and I wish that my hubby's niece and nephew could understand that. But then again they should but just does not care. Happy Mylotting

I am greatful for what I get, if i get anything at all. It is heart breaking at times when I get no gift. As it is nice to open something. Even if it is a card when everyone else is. However I do not expect anything. Nor would I say anything about it. I really enjoy giving gifts to others and watching to see if they like the gift I choose. Expressions do say it all.

Yes the expressions on people's face does say it all that is why I perfer to give and not get. Yes it is to get something even if it is small just so that I can open something. Happy Mylotting
