From what I have read and sounds most plausible and natural to me:
Like anyone I can't be completely sure. Strongly believe that 'time' is a concept that we hold within our human domain. This is very difficult to get one's head round! There have been many reports of going through a tunnel of light, in the dying process, it also sounds very plausible. There is also the belief that our own personal beliefs will strongly shape any experiences that we will go through, beyond this life.
I do believe in reincarnation, but exactly what form it takes, it is very difficult to say... if there is no time... then maybe we have many lives running in parallel. There is also the concept of the interlife. We review the life just past. Pass judgement on ourselves and formulate a plan for our next incarnation.
Saying all this my beliefs are kinda centred around buddhist, pagan and new age. I would respect all religions, but not when people get all fundamentalist and extreme about it --- and that goes for any religion.
Lastly, I cannot, believe that we simply cease to exist. Even basic science believes that nothing ever disappears, it simply changes form...

So exactly what problem do you have with the idea that the particles of which our bodies are made will ultimately disseminate across the universe to form stars, planets & atmospheres, and possibly other forms of life. Is this not a poetic yet entirely scientific viewpoint, one which doesn't rely on superstition and nonsensical thinking? Perhaps you should try to place more value on truth and less on comfort.

Dreamhealer, I also refuse to believe that we simply cease to exist, I don't think that's a plausible solution.
I like some of your ideas. But when you say that our own personal beliefs may shape our experiences in the afterlife... it's funny because part of me believes the same thing. I just worry about what happens to those that don't have any beliefs, or are still unsure of their beliefs.

TwilightGuardian-
How can you speak of believing in truths when you talk about our bodies becoming the stars. That is definitly not plausible.
Besides that, another person's beliefs are of no concequence to you, so live and let live.

It is something which is ultimately unprovable, but in the absence of sufficient evidence to suggest otherwise it would be logical to say that there is nothing after you die. Until evidence to the contrary is presented, that has to be the default conclusion.

I assumed that my opinion would be implied by what I said, my apologies. So just to clarify: I refuse to believe anything until evidence is presented to suggest it is the case.
You are correct in stating that it cannot be proven that there is no after life but the burden of proof is not on me, it's on the person making the claim. You can't make a claim and then declare certainty until somebody proves your claim false. If that were the case, I could claim anything and it would be your job to prove me wrong. You cannot prove a universal negative.
It's also worth noting that I very much doubt you live any other area of your life like this. Humans are naturally skeptical and it's unlikely you apply this standard to any other decision-making process. Why should "belief" be any different?

I believe there is something but I don't think it is anything that we can have explained to us, I don't believe in heaven and hell but I do believe we enter a different plane, I think it is something we just have to wait and see...

I believe your spirit leaves your body and goes back to the Lord in heaven. Then, when the rapture happens, if you are a Christian, your body rises to meet him in the air from the grave where you'll spend 7 years at the marriage supper. Then, you'll return to "EARTH" with him and all the other saints to reign for a 1000 years.

Hmm, I'd never heard that before. I've heard of going to heaven of course. I've also heard of reigning the earth, but not both together. But I don't follow Christianity that closely, I believe something different.
