Pu Erh tea... an acquired taste

has anybody tasted Pu Erh tea? people say that it's an acquired taste (like the filipino 'balut', western blue cheese, foie gras and escargot) due to its muddy and earthy taste. i got a tea sampler kit from my hong kong vacation, and luckily it had a cute jar of Pu Erh. i tasted it, and i had goosebumps because of the taste: it was extremely muddy and very fishy. but it felt good in the throat. unfortunately, i still need to get used to the taste, coz the kit costs me more than HKD50. haha. but anybody here who finds the taste of Pu Erh palatable?
