Do you buy Christmas presents for your dogs? Over the years I think about half the time the dogs have gotten gifts. It is usually something silly like a box of dog treats or a chew toy. I mean really how much does a dog need. Do you buy gifts for the family pet?

You could get them some new rocks for the bottom of the tank or a new plastic tree.

I haven't given our pets Christmas gifts from the time we adopted them. But lately I bought a shirt for one of our puppies, its a black shirt with the word "POLICE" on its back. Now that you mentioned it, I'm now thinking of the small things I might buy for our two dogs at home. Perhaps a toy bone, or a play ball would be a nice gift for both of them. Maybe I'll buy them a feeding tray or something like that. They really do not have their own feeding set so I guess its a better idea to give them an official feeding set for our dogs. Thanks lilybug for bringing this up!

Does the puppy like to wear the shirt? My brother got put a shirt on one of our dogs growing up that said "I love mommy!" He went out with it on and came back without it. I hope you find some nice small gift for your dogs.

I usually get him something like a chew toy treats or whatever. It's just cute to do it. It's not like they really need it or anything.

I have cats, and yes, I do buy a stocking stuffed with catnip toys for them, actually the stocking I bought last year still has toys in it, so I am going to regift that for them, shhhhhh My brother had a Rotti, his name was Damien, and he loved Christmas. First of all he would sniff all of the gifts and of course he could smell the ones that were for him. On Christmas morning, we would pile all of Damien's gifts in front of him, and he would rip them open, we would tie all of the ribbons on his head and take pictures. I miss Damien, he was such a good dog, and yes, he believed in Santa.

How cool that he opened his own presents! Very smart dog. We used to put all the bows on our dog when I was a kid and take pictures.

I have in the past bought toys for my dog for christmas. We now have 4 dogs and I do not think that I will be buying them any toys for christmas this year. But maybe a box of dog treats or rawhide bones might be more practical.

Ever since I was a kid I bought christmas gifts for my pets. I go to the pet shop and buy a stocking full of dog toys and treats. My birds also get a christmas gift. They even get gifts and a cake on their birthdays. My dog is going to be 14 years old on Dec. 12th. After all, they are part of the family.

Of course I get presents for the dogs...and cats. They are part of my family and they work hard at keeping me happy. They may not need much, but I do get them special treats for Christmas. Chew toys, cat nip mice, toys of any sort. It's the season for giving and they deserve a treat and a gift under the tree too. We had a poodle that loved Christmas. One year my folks decided to celebrate Christmas someplace else and the dog wouldn't leave until they loaded the presents into the vehicle. He wanted his packages to unwrap too! (LOL)

Not usually no. Our neighbor gives our dog more treats than she needs. But for Christmas our dog may get a table scrap or 2. Everyone should have a little celebration. Even the dog.

I buy my dog gifts!! I spoil him actually lol and even my parents will get him something. He has his own stocking and last year i filled it up with stuff. he must of gotten like 6 new toys and some chew toys/treats. He was really happy too. hes sure a dork so it was funny and cute watching him stare at the gifts and me telling him its for him and to open it lol he'll bite the wrapping paper easily and pulls to open it up and he acts so careful while doing it lol this year, of course he'll be getting something!

I think it is cute when the dog actually opens their own presents. I would say he is spoiled with all those toys. Cute dog, BTW.

I don't buy them a gift at Christmas...I buy bones and pigs ears for them all the time. Toys i wait until after Christmas and buy the half price toy stockings and give them a new toy as they destroy the old ones (beyond repair - i repair them until i cant before i give them new ones). When those run out i go to the dollar store. My boyfriend tends to tell me to quit being so cheap and give the dog a new toy already after the 2nd mending of a toy.

I used to, back when I had less kids. I bought a box of cat food for my cat one year and she destroyed it overnight, lol. I used to buy gifts for my mom's cats, or friends who had pets. I knew a couple with no children, but they had 2 dogs. They were so close to their dogs, so I bought the dogs a small gift.

Since we feed our dogs and cats dry food all the time, our Christmas present to them is usually canned food. They really seem to enjoy that more than they would enjoy a toy or something!
