Children overcoming the odds

In these days of doom, gloom and bad news around us everyday about children being abused or killed by their parents, there are often many children who manage to overcome any problems that they may face. I thought that it would be good to hear some feel good stories about children overcoming the odds whether big or small, as I am sure that nearly everyone knows a child that has managed it. I for one have my own story about my daughter who i took to see a specialist at the age of two because she walked with both her feet turned in. I was told that there was nothing that they could do for her at the time as she was too young. He also said that she would never be able to play sports because of her feet. Now 9 years later she now is the double national champion in her judo group, competes for our local athletics club and also plays for the school netball and football teams. I would love to see that Doctor and say 'look, she proved you wrong.' So how about you do you know of a child that has overcome the odds. I would love to hear your story.

I always say that doctors dont know it all even though they think do. Only the child knows what they are capable of. So these doctors need to stop telling people this til they can diagnose the real problem. I was told when i was 4 or 5 that my feet would be crooked and i use to wear special made shoes to straighten out my feet thats probably i have had alot of problems with my feet. BUT HAPPY MYLOTTING

Well I was born blind and deaf. I had surgery on my ears and eyes when I was two. My parents were told I would always have vision and hearing problems. As they could not completely fix my problems. But guess what, I don't use a hearing aid. I don't wear glasses (thou I probably should).
